Mad Monster may be OK but reviews in IMDB suggest it is not worth a download. What is this cult fascination with rotten little movies.? If I go to the supermarket, I do not choose a rotten apple, show to everyone, saying" look how superior I am to recognisise its qualities"

That's like comparing apples and oranges. And, um, oranges and movies.

Some of us get a kick out of rotten little movies. It's just a kink in our brains. It doesn't make us rotten little people, you know.

It reminds me of the joke Professor Peter Schickele made about the music of PDQ Bach -- when you listen to Mozart, you can never really enjoy it, because in the back of your mind, you can't help but feel that you couldn't possibly write music that heartbreakingly beautiful -- but when you listen to PDQ Bach, no matter how bad of a musician you may be, you can relax and think, "Well, heck, even I could do better than that..."

Why does it bother you so much what other people laugh at? This utterly and completely mystifies me, jack2. When anyone reads an ironic meaning into these films, you wag your finger and tell us to stop laughing.

There is nothing funnier than someone telling you not to laugh.

ridetheory.. Please read my post, before you start an insulting tirade, I was talking about the cult attitude and their a ssumption of acting as pseudo intellectwits. I often enjoy watching bad movies for relaxation BUT I never assume t hat I am engaged in intellectual exercise. They are poor quality movies and nothing more. Yes I watch them but I do not engage in an intellectual discouse to prove how clever I am , (edit added one sentence)

jack2, the very notion that laughing at a BAD movie is a BAD thing is just plain one of the FUNNIEST things anyone has ever said to me. Even my Mom -- one of the least ironic, least pretentious people I know, who has never done one, single thing in her entire life with the intent of making other people think she is superior -- makes fun of bad movies. (Whenever a plot goes a bit over the top, like the hero and the villain are having a bare-knuckle fight on top of a zeppelin or something, either she or my Dad chimes in with, "You know, this is based on a true story...") Why don't YOU stop YOUR constant barrage of insults directed at those of us who like the movies in the archives for reasons different than yours? Or don't, because hypocrisy is funny too. (Edit added one insult.)

RIDETHEORY In future I will totally IGNORE any of ypur writings anywhere in this archive. None of your sayings about me has any truth. Just one of your efforts, I did NOT even mention anything about laughing at bad movies.. Futile to consider your insults as you will just continue .

Jack2, I know he wouldn't admit it, but it sounds like ridetheory wants to work this out. I don't think you should ignore him -- it creates a great atmosphere of devil's advocate style arguing about the nature of movies! It may never really go anywhere (or stop when we're just getting interesting), but I think some important points have been reached. Really, that last sentence wasn't even sarcastic.

I can see why r.t. would be insulted, though, the use of the word 'rotten' for something we love so much hurts our hearts. At least it hurts mine. Or maybe that's the taco bell.

If yous guys need a mediator, I charge 5 bucks an hour. No, let's make that 15.

Hey, do you two have movies in the archive? I'd be interested in a battle of the independant movies. Or something. And based on both of your multiple posts, I am sure it would be interesting.

What is it if not an insult when you say that other users of the archive are acting superior and proving their cleverness? If it weren't so funny, I'd certainly be insulted.

Totally ignoring me now, huh? That'll be the day.
